Laundry III - Smelly stuff

DOES YOUR LAUNDRY STINK?
  • Air dry rags, washcloths, or other damp items. Don't just throw them in your hamper or somewhere to mildew.

  • Keep yucky stuff in a separate place to do a bleach load once a week or so. Throw in your shower curtain if it needs it (air dry!). Most wash cloths and towels will need a little bleach added to the load each time they are washed. You can find color-safe bleach if you have dark towels.

  • For items you do not want to bleach (i.e. smelly work out clothes?), you can pre-soak with warm water and baking soda for a few hours before washing.

Anyone have other ideas for smelly laundry?

I figured out quickly that if I use a rag to wipe up spilled milk or something similar then I needed to rinse it thoroughly before hanging it up to dry. It is just too humid in Texas to leave anything in there that might start to smell!
